XYGPS Quick Start Guide

This article is to help you register your new XY GPS model XY Finder. You will not be able to use your XYGPS until it's been registered to your XY Find It account. Please review this article thoroughly, and if you have any questions or difficulties in this process, please contact customer service.

 



Identifying Your XYGPS

If your XY Findables order came with more than one XY Finder, XYGPS is the large finder with a black button on the front. The button should light up when you press it.

Please note that the XY3 and the XYGPS are different products.  All XY Findables products work independently from each other.  


 

Charging Your XYGPS for the First Time

XYGPS units are shipped with a 30% charge, and you may not be able to proceed until your XY GPS has been fully charged.

IMPORTANT: Your XYGPS comes with a USB charging cord. You'll find it in the box below the insert that holds the XYGPS. Please remove the packaging insert and you'll find the cord beneath.

Please plug your XYGPS in using the USB charger provided with the unit and make sure the button on the front lights up after it's been plugged in.

Please make sure that any USB port you plug the cord into has power for the duration of charging. So if you plug it into your computer, make sure the computer is on, or if you plug it into your car, make sure the car's accessories are powered up or that it's running, and so forth.

The XYGPS should be charged for about two (2) hours. Then please unplug it and wait until the light in the button stops blinking before proceeding.

 


 

Registering Your XYGPS Using an Android Smartphone or Tablet

  • If you have not already done so, download the XY Find It app from the Play Store by searching for "XY Find It" in the search bar at the top of the Play Store app. Tap on XY Find It and then tap on Install.

  • Open the XY Find It app and if you do not yet have an XY Find It account, tap on Join. If you already have an XY Find It account, please tap on Sign In.

    Important: If you have already created an XY Find It account, please do not create another. XY Finders can only be registered to one account at a time, so please make sure all of your finders are registered to the same account!

  • Once you are signed in, tap on the plus sign icon in the top right corner.

  • Near the bottom of the page, tap on "Claim your XYGPS". (Be sure to tap on the green bar that says "Claim you XYGPS".)

  • Press and hold the button on the front of the XYGPS until it lights up. Release the button, and then quickly press and release the button. Give your phone a few moments to recognize the XYGPS. The app will notify you when it does.

  • At the top of your screen in the field that says "What will you attach XY to?" please enter the item on which you plan to place your XYGPS, or give it a name of your choice. Tap Done on your keyboard when you're finished.

  • If you would like to add a photo of the item you're keeping track of or your XYGPS, tap the camera icon in the large green square. Tap on Camera to take a new photo, or tap on Gallery to select a photo that's already on your phone. Once your photo is taken or selected, it will appear where the green box was.

    Important: If you receive a message asking you to allow XY Find It to access your photos, media, and files, please tap on Allow.

  • Tap on Save to register the XYGPS to your account.

    Note: If you see a message saying "Unknown Error", please tap on OK and disregard the message. This error occurs when re-registering an XYGPS that has already been registered before.

Your XYGPS should now be visible on the list of items along the bottom bar of the XY Find It app, below the map.

Please note that it may take up to 15 minutes for the SIM card of your XYGPS to become activated after adding the device to your account.

  


 

Registering your XYGPS Using an Apple iPhone or iPad

  • If you have not already done so, download the XY Find It app from the App Store by opening the App Store, tapping on Search on the bottom, and entering "XY Find It" in the search bar at the top of the page. Tap on XY Find It and then tap on the cloud icon on the right side and wait for the app to download and install.

  • Open the XY Find It app and if you do not yet have an XY Find It account, tap on Sign Up. If you already have an XY Find It account, please tap on Login.

    Important: If you have already created an XY Find It account, please do not create another. XY Finders can only be registered to one account at a time, so please make sure all of your finders are registered to the same account!

  • Once you are signed in, tap on the plus sign icon in the top right corner.

  • Near the bottom of the page, tap on "Claim your XYGPS". (Be sure to tap on the green bar that says "Claim you XYGPS".)

  • Press and hold the button on the front of the XYGPS until it lights up. Release the button, and then quickly press and release the button. Give your phone a few moments to recognize the XYGPS. A new page will appear when it's ready to proceed.

  • At the top of your screen in the field that says "What will you attach XY to?" please enter the item on which you plan to place your XYGPS, or give it a name of your choice. Tap Return on your keyboard when you're finished.

  • If you would like to add a photo of the item you're keeping track of or your XYGPS, tap Add Photo in the large gray square. Tap on Camera to take a new photo, or tap on Photo Library to select a photo that's already on your phone. Tap on Use Photo. Once your photo is taken or selected, it will appear where the gray box was.

  • Tap on Save in the top right corner to register the XYGPS to your account.

    Note: If you see a message saying "Unknown Error", please tap on OK and disregard the message. This error occurs when re-registering an XYGPS that has already been registered before.

Your XYGPS should now be visible on the list of items along the bottom bar of the XY Find It app, below the map.

Note: The option to register your XYGPS via our website has been discontinued. All XY GPS units must now be registered via Bluetooth using a mobile device. We apologize for any inconvenience.
